Formation of the University
In the year 1998, two slogans ‘I will find a way or make one’ (Atlanta University) and ‘culture for service’ (Motto of Clark College) merged to form the basis of Clark Atlanta University. Earlier Atlanta University offered graduate degrees while the Clark College was more into 4 year undergraduate programs related to liberal arts.

With a lavish campus of 126 acres accommodating 37 buildings, the backbone of the education system at Clark Atlanta University forms the college quartet which gets differentiated with respect to disciplines. The 4 colleges are as follows
Arts and Sciences College
Business Administration College
Social Work College
Education College

Termed as a ‘Research University’ with high research activity by Carnegie Foundation, the Clark Atlanta University has had many words of encouragement via the Washington Monthly’s and US News & World Report’s college ranking list.

Student Activities
Clark Atlanta University operates a Jazz Radio Station known as WCLK. WCLK can be received at the frequency - 91.9 FM. Music is always flowing at the CAU; results include notable alumni who have made in big in the music industry like Jody Mayfield, Fletcher Henderson, Mason "Mase" Durrell Bethea, DJ Drama, Chaka Zulu , Wayman Carver and still counting. Apart from this, CAU has given many civil rights activists, sportsmen, philanthropists and writers. The college has many excellent residential facilities as well.

The college plays a good role in students’ growth post college life by getting involved with an excellent career planning and placement center. In terms of admissions, the ‘financial aid section’ helps students with scholarships and other aid. In terms of sports and athletics, the college has affiliations from Division II of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
