Being a veterinarian is the closest a man can get to animals, for they treat and care for animal folks. Later, a vet has to perform animal surgeries if required (post surgery, the vet treats and dresses wounds). Like a dentist, a vet also needs to take care of the dental part of animals. Lastly, a vet needs to euthanize animals wherever applicable.
If we summarize a veterinarian’s work life, the diagnostic part also requires a certain level of skill and experience. As animals can’t talk, a proper and timely diagnostics becomes more important.

Educational Requirements

A bachelors or doctors degree in veterinary medicine is required to practice as a vet. Some countries allow registration and practice only after a vet completes his masters or doctoral program.

Many vets specialize in a certain animal study and treatment. Most common are vets who treat dogs and cats. However there are many veterinary folks who specialize in the treatment of birds, horses, reptiles, cows etc. Most job opportunities direct a vet towards private clinics and hospitals, but teaching in colleges and universities is also an option for veterinarians.
