Hillsborough Community College

A two year community college located in the Hillsborough County, Florida in United States, Hillsborough Community College has its administrative office located on Davis Islands, which is near the downtown Tampa.

Campus features

Overall the college has six campuses that includes Brandon, Plant City, MacDill AFB, Ybor City, Dale Mabry and South Shore with the last one at southern shore of Tampa Bay near Ruskin. Four among these are main campuses while there are also two other centers.

Brief Background

One of the last among the community colleges that were established in the state of Florida, the Hillsborough Community College was set up in the year 1968 and is of comparatively recent origin since it was the 27th among 28 such colleges in Florida.

Enrollment Features

Despite the comparatively late establishment, the community college boasts of a substantial student enrollment over 43,000. It ranked 8th among the colleges in the country in 2010 and also ranked as the 20th in terms of associate degrees produced. It is also one of the few colleges that have its own residence hall.

Admission Policy

Hillsborough Community College follows open admission processes. Students who have graduated with a diploma from a secondary school are eligible for admission. Such admissions are completed by submitting an application with non-refundable admission fee, transcripts, applications for financial assistance, and other documents. Students will attend placement tests and attend orientation program.

It is the National Student Clearing House that conducts all degree as well as enrollment verifications for the college.
